The BIOTechno forum - Overview

The Forum:

BIOTechno is a local meeting bringing together private interested players and young scientists with a common goal: meet, exchange and get connected.

In ten years, BIOTechno has become a major event in the biotechnology area in France. Each forum attracts more and more participants showing the true value of the event and helping the various organizing committees to make this day possible.

This year is the eleventh anniversary of the event. It will take place at the prestigious “Lyon congress Centre” on June the 10th, 2008.

What is BIOTechno?

BIOTechno is a single day event taking place in various French cities. Each forum is organised by one or many associations of young scientists in Life Sciences; all organisations being members of the so called BIOTechno Network. It is usually organised before the summer or at the beginning of the autumn.

How does it take place?

The event is designed to host an opening conference on a broad topic, two plenary sessions dealing with current concerns in science, many workshops, a five minute company presentation session and a daylong booths exposition in the main hall. Usually, conclusive remarks and general overviews are given at the end of the day by an outstanding speaker.

From what companies may benefit of this event?

The ultimate goal is to give a chance to Bio-industries and related-companies to meet interested players of the local area. Companies will also have the possibility to present their products, hire new collaborators or simply strengthen their network. By being part of this event, they will introduce their company to a large panel of candidates and discover skills and potentials brought by them. Young scientists have added values that fit in companies and that always bring a new viewpoint.

What do young PhDs/scientists expect from this event?

During past events, young PhD graduates, Science PhD and Masters Students have benefited from the discovery of companies standing in their neighborhood without even knowing about them.

Lastly, this event is obviously a day where the time has come for young scientists to establish contact with the private sector. Interactions occur throughout the day and create a network between young scientists, their future employers and public institutions by informing them of private opportunities and new fields of interest.
